SECOND GENERATION

2. DANIEL2 GOODWIN (Daniel1), born 1656 [Libby, Noyes and Davis add: +/- 30 Mar 1686, aged 70 Oct 1725; +/- 37 Oct 1700 obv. an error]. He died in Apr or May 1726. He married 17 Oct 1682 [LND says 17 Dec] AMY THOMPSON, daughter of Miles Thompson. They resided in South Berwick, ME. In July 1694 he was presented at the county court for "being overtaken with drink." He made his will 12 Apr 1726, which was probated 13 May 1726, (Sargent, William, ed., Maine Wills, pp. 279-280). [LND gives 12 May as the date of probating of will] LND adds that on 24 May 1679, his father deeded him land and a small house then occupied by Daniel Stone, that he served often on the grand jury, was surveyor of highways, 1684-95, and selectman, 1695-1698, also that his wife was received into the church, 9 May 1714.

3. JAMES2 GOODWIN (Daniel1), died Berwick, ME, 31 July 1697, m1 York, ME, 9 Dec 1686, SARAH THOMPSON, bpt. Apr 1703, by John Wincoll. esq., J. P. (NEHGR, 28:116; 49:46). He was killed by Indians, 31 July 1697, and she m2. Dec 1703 (Pike's Journal) WILLIAM HEARL. LND adds that he was, with his brother Thomas, given land by his father, 14 July 1683, and that he served on a jury, 1696-97.

4. THOMAS2 GOODWIN (Daniel1), married abt. 1685, MEHITABLE PLAISTED, daughter of Lieutenant Roger Plaisted. She was captured by the Indians, Mar 1689/90, went to CANADA, but later returned. They resided in South Berwick, ME. Her gravestone may still be seen in the Old Fields Cemetery in South Berwick, ME. He married second SARAH _______, and he and his second wife deeded land to his son Thomas, in December 1711. See Cotton Mather's Magnalia. LND notes no second marriage. LND adds that Thomas, with his brother James, had land from their father, 14 July 1683, that Thomas was living in Mr. Love's house when Salmon Falls was sacked, Married 1689-90, that he was captured with his wife and infant son, that her brother James Plaisted, another captive, wrote that Thomas had killed one French man and wounded another in the attack and was to be tried by a council of war, but was free before his wife was redeemed in October 1685, that Thomas was an ensign, that his estate was taxed 20 Nov 1713, and administration granted to his widow, 26 Mar 1714, and that the widow was living in 1740.

5. WILLIAM2 GOODWIN (Daniel1), born Kittery, ME; died Kittery, ME, 1714; m. DELIVERANCE TAYLOR, daughter of John Taylor. She was living, 4 Apr 1763, aged 90 years. His will, made on 26 Apr 1713, was probated 26 Mar 1714 (Maine Wills, pp. 178-179). See references in Pike's Journal. LND adds that he m. Oct 1687, and resided on the Taylor homestead, together with some further notes on his wife's age.

Jeremiah Wise, pastor of the First Congregational Church, daughter. of John Taylor. She was living 29 Oct 1790. They resided in South Berwick, ME.

1.8 SARAH2 GOODWIN (Daniel1), married Berwick, ME, 6 Dec 1694, ISAAC BARRON, son of Elias Barron, who died 16 Sept 1739, aged 67 years 9 months. Isaac resided in Chelmsford, MA, and served on garrison duty in Berwick during King William's War. His gravestone is in Forefather's Cemetery, Chelmsford, MA.
