LND notes also that he was a witness in 1711. J. S. Goodwin adds: "John, Samuel and Miles Goodwin were petitioners in 1752 at Penobscot and vicinity" Bangor Hist. LND identifies him as James, son of William, grandson of Daniel, emigrant, adds that he was living in Oyster River, 1719-25, and after that time in Newmarket, and dates his will, 1757

Descendants of Deacon John Dam of Dover, NH, 1633, states that he married ELIZABETH TIBBETTS DAM DOWNS, widow of Pomfret Dam and Gersham Downs, that they resided in Dover, NH in 1730, quit claiming 11 May 1730, all rights in the estate of her father, Joseph Tibbetts. In 1740 Richard Goodwin and Richard, Jr. are enumerated among the soldiers of Somersworth, NH. Richard Goodwin was also one of Captain Robert's scouts at Rochester, NH.

A Thomas Goodwin married Hannah Wells and her father John Wells in his will, 10 May 1748 - 22 July 1748, mentions his daughters and heirs and makes special bequest to grandchildren. Thomas Goodwin, mentioning deed to grandchildren. Thomas, dated 27 Jan 1743/4. The above named Thomas Goodwin, bpt. 9 Oct 1726, is the only Thomas of sufficient years to have been the husband of Hannah and the father of Thomas, Jr. in 1743/4

18 Captain ICHABOD3 GOODWIN (Thomas2, Daniel1), born 17 June 1700; married South Berwick, ME, 25 Aug 1729, ELIZABETH SCAMMON, of Saco, ME, daughter of Captain Humphrey Scammon, by the Rev. Jeremiah Wise, pastor of the First Congregational Church.. Early in his life he was a blacksmith, later a farmer. In 1754, he was a member of the General Court of MA. During the French and Indian Wars, he was captain of a company that he raised in Berwick, and in 1758 was ordered to Lake George, taking with him his son. His will, made on 7 Dec 1774, was proved 18 Nov 1777

His estate was administered in 1733, and his widow m2. Berwick, ME, 10 Sept 1778, by the Rev Matthew Merriam, pastor of the Second Congregational Church PETER GRANT, whose first wife was ALICE GUBTAIL. Taylor Goodwin was a farmer, and resided at "Old Fields", South Berwick, ME. His homestead consisted of eight acres of land bounded: beginning at Newichawanick River, next to William Warren's land, thence south seventeen poles, twelve feet, thence south 81-20 to the said river, thence by said river to the beginning. Betty Nason lived at Pipe Stave Landing, South Berwick, ME, in 1693. It was the head of navigation at low tide on the Piscataqua River and when "Pipe Staves" were the most common form of currency, must have been a very busy place.

Some obvious errors occur in the record of this family, probably including the date of his death. See Maine Genealogy of Maine <States JHG> v.2, p. 308. His death was the result of an accident while fishing with two other persons in a small boat near the mouth of the Nonesuch River. The boat was upset and all were precipitated into the water. Captain Libby, though an expert swimmer, never rose. The other two escaped, and the manner of his death gave rise to suspicion of foul play. Starting with v, and continuing the children are noted as born by a second marriage to Fogg, but the above Libby was still living.
