IVORY GOODWIN
The following genealogy is taken from a letter:
[....] As a point of interest, she [Mrs. Vinton] shares the first three generations down from Daniel, the immigrant, with Mrs. Hall, Cocoa Beach, Fla.
The lineage of Mrs. Hall is in this issue and that of Mrs. Vinton is in issue #1 & 2. Ivory GOODWIN, (Ebenezer, Ebenezer, Aaron, Moses, Daniel1) was the son of Eben (Ebenezer) Goodwin and Polly (Mary) FERNALD. Ebenezer GOODWIN was probably a farmer and lived in the big house on Goodwin (now Clark) Lane in So. Berwick, Me. After Polly's death in 1832 he married again; at So. Berwick, on 30 Oct. 1833, to Keziah Randel of Berwick; marr. performed by Seth H. Keller. (S.B. Town Rec). [Keziah was a sister to Patty (Martha) RANDALL who was a second wife to Dominicus HUBBARD. The parents of Keziah and Patty were Jeremiah RANDALL and Hannah ----. The girls had a brother, Samuel, and I believe Jeremiah's ancestry is:(Eliphalet3 m. Lydia ROLLINS) (Samuel2 m. Elizabeth MACFIELD) (Richard RANDALL ). [This information sent in by Mrs. KEIES, Ogunquit, Me.] She [Keziah ?] d. 8 Mar. 1877, aged 87 years, according to her stone in the family cemetery.

Following is Mrs. Vinton's reconstruction of the children of Eben and Polly and is taken verbatim from her letter: [...] Ivory Goodwin, whose birth record I have not found yet. His stone in the family cemetery reads: "Ivory Goodwin, June 30 1868, aged 60 years", which places his birth in 1808. I have pictures of him; papers indicating that he was in the state militia in 1831 under Daniel Hill of Eliot, and was elected Lieutenant in August 1832; and discharged in October I837. I have not the least notion of what he did for a living. So far I do not even have a date of marriage for him and his wife Elizabeth Rawson Hill (found in Stackpole, p 522,) d/o Samuel Hill of Eliot and wife Elizabeth Rawson of Mendon, Mass. Latter was a descendant of Edward Rawson, Secretary of the Mass. Bay Colony 165O-1686, and no one was ever allowed to forget it. FRH was born 27 May 1811; her stone in the same cemetery gives her date of death as December 7, 1886, aged 75. So far as I know the children of Ivory and Elizabeth were: (1) Elizabeth Rawson Goodwin, no exact birth-date, but her death certificate says she was born at Bangor, Maine; birth date calculated from age at death would be July 1843. She married a cousin, Albert Goodwin, s/o Alpheus and his wife (Goodwin) Goodwin. Alpheus was the s/o Ebenezer Goodwin's brother Moses and latter's wife Sally Lord. Moses and Sally and some of their children are also buried in the same cemetery. It's of some interest that Alpheus and his wife, when they married and went looking for land to farm, found and bought the grand old house just below Pipestave Landing built by Col. Hamilton, and now owned and restored by the Soc. for N.E. Antiquities. They had 14 children. Considering that not only was Albert's mother a born Goodwin before she m. Alpheus, but that her mother, wife of one Thomas Goodwin, was also born a Goodwin, it strikes me as very sensible of Elizabeth Rawson Goodwin and Albert not to have any children. At least I never heard of any. Albert died in 1888. Lizzie stayed on in her parent's house in SB (South side of Vine St., just W. of Liberty maybe a quarter of a mile) until sometime around 1920, when she moved to Rye and lived out her days with her sister, my grandmother, Mary C. Goodwin. She died at Rye 23 March 1922.
