Market Square, Dover NH
Located on the Maine border and part of New Hampshire's sea coast, Dover's early
Explorers saw on the North bank of the Piscataquat River, a forest of oak, hemlock, maple, and pine.
The river widens suddenly and here, where Master Martin Pring and the crew of the ship Speedwell,
a hugh vessel of 50 tons from Bristol,
England, sailed up river with the tide and took refuge in June of 1603.
